Arts Alive

Every year the city of Burlington hosts the Arts Alive Festival. Most of the shops on Church Street participate and have an artist that they feature in their windows. This year we are hosting Annie McGinnis, a talented artist and also an employee of Sweet Lady Jane. Stop by and check out her paintings!

Street Chic

It's prom season in Burlington. Nate and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Leunig's and watched the prom attendees strut their stuff. We spotted this woman running to meet up with her date, wearing a Free People dress from Sweet Lady Jane. We were surprised at the range of attire- full on princess looks to our chic woman pictured here.

Happy Memorial Day!

Outfit of the week...

Alright- another personal favorite. The dresses are handmade in Florida by a wonderful company called Love Life. The red gingham jacket/dress will work for almost every season and retails for $168. I will wear it alone, over another dress or with a pair of jeans and a tee shirt.

The spaghetti strap dress is will be a summer must have. This one is in an oil cloth print, also made by Love Life and retails for $138.

The necklace is a classic Sweet Lady Jane piece for $34. It's created By Boe; we also have it available in gold for $38.

Check out these little treasures! We just got these in from Ach Ach Liebling , which means "oh oh darling!". Joanna, the designer and creator, uses vintage materials to create these unique necklaces and earrings. Truly a unique jewelry line, offered exclusively at Sweet Lady Jane.

Farmer's Market

I stopped by the Farmer's Market today to say hello to my friends Millia and Heather from PupCat Bakery. They make the most amazing pet treats.

Today was pretty busy at the store. We saw a lot of families visiting for graduations. I'm sure the town will be hopping tonight!

Floor move

I walked into the store today and knew it had to happen - the dreaded floor move. The place was a mish-mash and needed an overhaul for graduation weekend. A floor move basically means a complete rearrangement of styles, colors and products. We frequently do mini-moves every week, but eventually seasonal changes and new merchandise dictate a major rearrangement of the entire store. I actually really enjoy a floor move, but it's a lot of work.

Leslie

Here's rare moment that you can see Leslie Halperin, the founder of The Clothes Exchange, standing still.

Cheers to Leslie! You and your army of volunteers did an amazing job at The Clothes Exchange. I can't wait for next year.

Power shopping.

The Clothes Exchange had it's annual event last night and it was a mob scene! People were lined up and anxiously waiting to browse the racks of donated, gently worn clothing. Once inside, they grabbed, stripped, made their choices and made a difference.

The picture is of the check out line. I heard that they raised $21,000 for the Visiting Nurse Association.

The British are coming.

I made a beeline to Barney's after leaving the show. They were preparing Kate Moss's designs for the Topshop U.S. debut. The windows were decked out in Kate Moss merchandise and the entire Co-op floor was a buzz. They were setting the floor for the goods and perhaps a visit from Kate herself?!

Too bad I won't be in the city to see the excitement tomorrow.

Last day in the city.

The show ended on a positive note. I added Porridge to the fall line up and a few other new finds. I ordered holiday pieces from French Connection, LTB jeans, and Nick and Mo.

It was too nice of a day to spend all of it indoors, so I took off around 1pm and headed out to check out the windows and displays of New York.

A rare gem.

I found a great new jewelry line. It's from Metal Monk. The necklaces and earrings are made with vintage findings and feature unique color combinations. I got to meet the designer and she was super nice.

I also may have scored Dittos- a denim line from the 70's. The clothing wasn't as exciting as I was hoping for but tomorrow is another day. Today was for meant accessories. I wrote David Aubrey, a jewelry line that I've been after for ages and Hobo International was amazing.

The big city.

What a long day. I left Burlington on the 7:45am flight and got to the Javitis center in New York around 10am. I walked the entire show before I decided what I would go back for. This was new for me as I usually buy as I walk. It's now almost 6pm and I'm ready for bed.

The picture on the left is of a new line that I found called Tulle. It's well priced and they offered some super cute pieces. I ordered some interesting wool jackets and fun colored sweaters for fall.

Bruce

This is Bruce St. Amour and he's been making my hair pretty for the last ten years. I stopped by to see him this morning for a quick trim before I head off to NYC tomorrow. He's currently working at the Terra Luna salon in Winooski. Don't even try to steal my appointment times!

I'll be attending the Designer's and Agents show, the Accessorie show and Intermezzo. I will be shopping for fall and holiday goods. Stay tuned for pictures from the shows.

Outfit of the week...

This outfit is screaming out for a hot summer day at the beach. That is if it ever warms up here! The bandeau is by Free People and is $28. It's great piece to have because it will work under those tops that have "what kind of bra do I wear with this?" issues. The cotton/linen top, also by Free People, is trimmed with seashells and has a elasticized waist. It can be yours for $68. The short shorts are my personal favorite. They're made in the U.S.A. by Mon Petit Oiseau and retails for $102.

Charlotte

Our friend and former (I only say "former" since it appears that she'll be off to London next) co-worker Charlotte has hit the stands! Here she is in her first modeling gig. I'm not sure what magazine this is in but I'll find out. She's in New Zealand and has just finished an internship with Karen Walker. You look amazing Charlotte!
