Charlotte is going to Charleston Fashion week (with a little help from us). You may remember her from a previous post, where she almost became a contestant on Project Runway. Watch her video and please, if you can, contribute to her fashion fund. Oh! If you want to see more of her work, check out her site Isobel & Cleo.
I don't know what came over me but I did some serious damage with the red pen yesterday. Maybe it's because I'm so sick of the cold weather or I'm just digging the emptiness of the shop. Whatever it may be stop down for some serious deals and we have lots of great pieces left.
I don't know what the ladies of Burlington are going to think about the spring trends. I'm seeing a lot of dusty/muted colors and the bohemian look is very strong. I think that the women of Burlington already have a strong grasp of bohemian and I the dusty colors are difficult on most of us.
I do think that we'll have enough brights to rescue us in the sea of bland. French Connection had some great coral dresses and some fresh printed silk pieces. Silk was another big trend and Eight Sixty had some lovely bright pieces.
Maxi dresses are also the "latest" and so are peasant skirts. Peasant skirts are not a trend that Sweet Lady Jane is going to embrace but we still like the maxi dress.
I'm in New York, attending the spring trade shows; FAME, Accessory the Show (yes- it is really called that) and Intermezzo. I had a great day today, which means that I found lots of good stuff. My favorite finds were some knuckle rings and the Pietro Alessandro bags.
We're staying at The Ace Hotel and it's a design dream. I love the quirky little sayings that they have posted all over the hotel. Some examples: by the elevator "love lifts us up were we belong", on the wood hangers "you look good in that" and behind the towel rack "if you want a fresh towel, leave it in the tub, if there is no tub, leave it on the floor, if there is no floor, leave."
We had a sweet visitor today at the shop - Billy the corgi! She was so loveable and Erica desperately wanted to keep her. We realized that she looked just like the fox printed dress by Corey Lynn Calter. Lucky girl...
2011! Here's to a great year! Let's take some chances this year - why not wear your sparkle during the day?! Don't save your dress up pieces for only special occasions, make everyday special! Try mixing them with simple, casual pieces like denim and jersey to carry them into the daytime.
